FAQ Page

There are many myths and confusions associated with Hypnotherapy.

I would like to clarify some of these as follows.

Question - What is Hypnosis?

Answer - Hypnosis is a relaxed, focussed state of concentration.

  • Most people simply feel mentally relaxed and feel as though they are daydreaming in a focussed way. Sometimes it is called a ‘trance’ state and it is a state which we all experience several times a day.

  • Ever had a driving experience when you realise you haven’t been concentrating on your driving for the last few minutes and wonder how you could have missed that time?

  • Have you ever found yourself staring into a fire or been absorbed in a book or a favourite pastime?

  • These are normal states where your conscious mind can wander off for a break.

Question - Can Hypnosis Make Me Do Something Against My Will?

Answer - This is a myth.

  • Stage hypnotists appear as though they are making people do strange things but the truth is that these people want to behave in an outrageous way.

  • If they were not prepared to lose their inhibitions, they would not be volunteering to go up on the stage in the first place.

  • Rest assured, you will never do anything or accept any suggestions which violate your morals and values.

Question - During Hypnosis will I be letting out any deep dark secrets?

Answer - No.

  • Most Hypnotherapists don’t use Regression Techniques during sessions. You may not be even talking. You will be in a deep relaxed state receiving suggestions.

Question - Do you have control over my mind?

Answer - No.

  • No one can have control over your mind. If Hypnotherapists were so powerful, we would be able to rule the world. Unfortunately this is not the case.

Question - Do I go to sleep?

Answer - Sometimes.

  • Occasionally clients might drift off for a few minutes during a session if they are feeling tired but mostly you are more aware of your surroundings during hypnosis than you are normally with your eyes open.

The truth about Hypnosis

  • When you are mentally and physically relaxed and your conscious mind has drifted off, your unconscious mind is your most important tool to change the way you experience the world.

  • You can develop qualities you need, release blocks and fears and create new inner beliefs to support you. These changes set wheels in motion to make changes in the way you think, feel and behave.

  • I can teach you how to use your mind in a positive, supportive and fulfilling way.

  • You will gain more confidence, release negative habits, relax easily, manage stress, change eating patterns and motivate yourself in any area of your life you choose to change.
